Hey everyone! I noticed it was around winter last year when our successful R/B/Y forum project started (and was successful), so I thought we could try and pull together and make another successful project ! The purpose of this thread is just to pool together some ideas or opinions that anyone has on whether or not we should do a project...feel free to share! - Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Remix Project - G/S/C Remix Project - R/S/E Remix Project - D/P/Pt Remix Project -Pokémon TCG -Pokémon Snap -Pokémon Puzzle League - m0r3 ideaz?!!! - Doing a game with a smaller soundtrack - 2 people maximum on the same source - Remixing songs that have a certain theme like "beginning songs" Also, do you guys want to suggest non-pokemon game soundtracks? I'll ask you this because we still are "Pokemon Zone", although some of us have diverged into more different soundtracks and styles. Also, fk yeah 600 posts.

For nostalgia's sake, I would have to go for the G/S/C soundtrack. Couple things, it had a great soundtrack as it was, and HG/SS just improved upon that. The soundtrack itself is amazing while the songs remain embedded in the hearts of earlier players as well as some newer ones.
Although I much prefer the R/S/E soundtrack over the following, my second suggestion would be D/P/Pt. The soundtrack wasn't the best, as the developers were likely experimenting with the DS's musical capabilities, but we can obviously better the themes.
R/S/E is the best soundtrack in my opinion, and to hear them remixed would be amazing, but I feel like the aforementioned need it more. I'm personally one for the Elite Four battle theme X3
I do intend to partake.

I think we decided a while ago to just give up on reviving the old remix project. I am definitely in favor of a new one, in hopes that it would succeed. I may or may not participate, but I would still love to see it done. My only suggestion is that we keep in mind that the last one didn't work out too well, and we should maybe limit it to a game with a smaller soundtrack this time around, until we're sure that we can successfully tackle an OST like the one found in the Johto games, for example.
In terms of games with smaller soundtracks, I have some ideas for games that are really overlooked and could turn out really well: -Pokémon TCG -Pokémon Snap -Pokémon Puzzle League
We could also keep it sticking to a theme. I remember we played with this idea a bit with RvR. We could choose a theme like "Goodbyes," and users could each choose a fitting song that they would want to remix. In the example given, it could range from songs like "I Don't Want to Say Goodbye," which would fit in a very literal sense, or something more symbolic, like "Route 1," which would represent Red leaving his hometown to partake on his new adventure.
I must say, I think a thematic album would work really well, and could be really fun, given that we wouldn't have the restrictions of choosing from just one game. I'm sure a lot of you know "The Missingno Tracks." Imagine what a different album that would have been if they only remixed songs from one region.

I'm still against doing a whole soundtrack, ot only because of what happened last time, but because every OST has songs people like, but a lot that no one really wants to do (e.g. trainer encounter themes).
I'd rather go the route of either: A) take one of the core game series and remix tracks from that, with a limit of one remix per enterer, or two if one / two entries are collabs. This way, everyone gets to do a song they like without having to give in to one no one really want to do. Maybe have a limit on how many of the same track could be remixed? (e.g. only 2 entries could be from the same source)
B) Instead of one of the core games, we just have a "theme" remix album of tracks that follow the same pattern (e.g. an album of Route themes, or a collaboration of Battle themes). Only 1 similar source material could be entered (e.g. only one remix of N's Battle Theme), and some sort of limit to the number that could come from one generation (e.g. only 3 source tracks per generation). Again, one entry if going solo or two if one / two of them are collabs
I think we should do the core games, of course pending on if this gets finished. >.> If we make another after this, then we can branch out to the subseries games (Mystery Dungeon, TCG, etc.) and eventually other series besides Pokemon.
Of course, in the end, I'm down with whatever.

I'm not sure, but I don't think it's necessary for us to remix ALL th- REMIX ALL THE SONGS 11111!!!!1 Er anyways, I don't think it's mandatory that we cover each source from the game, but my opinion may be wrong haha But those are some good soundtrack ideas, I'll add em to the list!

My only point is, why limit ourselves to GSC if someone wants to do something else, especially if there's enough creative inspiration to take one song and turn it into something totally different.
Jumping off of the "theme" idea of mine from earlier, we could do a theme of "new beginnings," considering that this is sort of a retry of a somewhat failed attempt last time.
Of course, if the rest of the forum wants to do just GSC, that's fine, too. I don't expect to participate much if at all, so the best I can do is pitch an idea from which you guys could jump off of if you wanted.

I have no childhood memories of G/S/C, and my first visit to Jotho happened in Soul Silver.. and personally I found the soundtrack amazing at best, but bland at worst. If you should decide to do the G/S/C OST, then please don't try to do ALL of the music Same goes for PMD, where the amazing pieces are the exceptions rather than the rule. Personally, I'll try to participate in whatever is decided, but I'm fond of the TCG OST, as well as Stein's theme idea. TCG because we then actually have a chance of doing the whole soundtrack (yes, there are bland pieces in that soundtrack as well, but I can do them for you xD). Theme because then everyone can pick something they like, although the final "album" might end up a bit repetitive, with for example Goodbye songs all over if we're not careful

I'm not a remixer but I think doing some of the smaller games would be cool for you to do as often when i look for remixs of those songs from smaller games I cant find them.

You could of used my existing ideas thread but, oh well.
I don't know if i'll have the time but, I'm gonna pick The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. loljk
I would pick D/P/Pt because it had it's share of good and god awful tracks and it's been a good chunk of time since they came out so people might search for remixes of songs from those games.

I think the most effective way to keep everything together would be to have it based on a single game's soundtrack, it just helps keep the project organized and ties it together in an easily recognized theme.
As for what game I think it could be interesting to take one of the mystery dungeon games to have a break from the main series (note many of the main series songs sound similar or are direct remixes of older ones), like alternate between the main series for one project, a side series or different game entirely the next.

Alright, here's an idea.
First off, Derpy there has a good point in that sticking to a single game would keep everything more organized. Jill's idea of restricting the number of themes to be entered by a single user is also reasonable, and Einstein's theory of relativity among the themes can narrow things further down.
To put that blankly, here's a template: Each person can enter a maximum of 2 themes, or 3 if at least one is a collaboration. The themes must also be restricted to <insert game-theme combination here> i.e.: Pokemon B/W Route themes.
If you liek the whole idea, click teh Mudkip.

The thing is that you wouldn't want to be *too* specific to the theme. Taking your example with B/W route themes...there's only 5 or 6 in the whole game. Even doing something like town themes from a specific game, you'd run into the problem of *maybe* having about 10 or so songs to choose from.
Therefore, I would think it would be better to have an album with remixes from either 1 core-game generation, or have a theme album with songs from all core games (vice versa for subseries). A *theme* meaning battle themes from all 5 generations, or town themes; as much as I like more abstract stuff like "new beginnings", I feel like doing something more literal would be better organized and clearly cohesive.
