Alright, DoubleJoe time! RtC has been revived! Sorry for the delay, it would have probably gone faster with better community input, but that's beside the point. Time to rate Joe! Next week will be Rojo and Jill will follow, assuming they want to be rated. And after that, I've decided to dedicate full rounds to the re-ratings of the first 9 individuals that were reviewed. I'm still trying to decide on whether to go in the same order or do nominations to decide on a new order, so anybody got any opinions? Previous Rounds:Round 1: SuperiorLarxene - 95% Round 2: lala19357 - 97% Round 3: LugiaDialga - 93% Round 4: pokemoneinstein - 83% Round 5: hnturs12 - 93% Round 6: Dasgust - 92% Round 7: tobinus - 93% Round 8: Pokeneon7 - 85% Round 9: xxseenyweeny - 90% Round 10 (1): REGIROCK - Try to make OCs, Try non-techno arrangements
Round 10: (2): SonicWave1000 - Try making more OCs, Try more genres than DnB, Electronica, etc.
Round 11: TheGuitahHeroe - Work on a bit more instrument variety, Try branching into main-series Pokémon games when remixing
Round 12: WherewolfTherewolf - Try to look around the internet for fuller samples to use
Round 13: almightyarceus - Work on better EQ (try to make instruments blend together as a whole piece better), work in more various genres
Round 14: OMGZach72 - Use instruments that blend together better, Make your pieces less erratic, use chords, rests, etc.
Round 15: xtremethomas - Be more original in your remixing as opposed to a generic orchestrator, spend more time on each remix and make them sound much fuller, stray away from merely reinstrumentizing MIDIs.
Round 16: YannickJason - Stronger drum tracks, EQ differently so that “no track gets left behind”
Round 17: AMTRAX - Try to find more realistic sounds, Beef up your drum tracks a bit.
Round 18: WitchChao - Get better at EQing, Try more genres
Round 19: FlameHeadsHero - Being a fellow Mac user, basically what I scraped up for improvement was to just play around a lot sort of “behind-the-scenes” and learn more about the program you’re currently using to make the most of your software transition. Current Nominations:None
This week on the stands: DoubleJoe7! I'll hopefully rate soon.

DJ has come of age in his music creation over the past 6-9 months. He left his old channel and created a new one to begin a new era in marvellous music making. I think DJ is deserving of more recognition on youtube, his compositions are really good. He's a user of Nexus like me so you just know he has great taste and a good ear. And the great thing about DJ, is that his compositions just keep getting better and better, which is quite awesome if you think about it (perhaps DJ will be the king of remixing by next year?) There's always room for improvement in everyone, I keep trying to think ways that DJ can improve... hmm I can't really! All I can say is just keep going the way you're going, advance your musical improv in pieces, and your musical understanding! You really are an awesome composer and don't stop! Continue with new ways to improve yourself, and don't be afraid to experiment with the vast array of wonderful things FL studio can do. My favourite song from you is still Life: It Moves On, which was my birthday song. I just love the relaxed and laid back nature. I'd love to see more pieces like by you! I rate DJ 91/100 That's an A+!!

Now, I've been watching DJ and his work for a while. I have to say that in such a short time, you have improved greatly! I just went through all of your songs on YouTube. With each song made, there was drastic improvement. Out of a small handful of users here on the Zone, you're a favourite of mine because your style is adaptive. You always look for new ways to do things. The good I've found with your work is that not much is left behind in the sense of instrumentation. *My example and favourite is Battle! vs. The Legendary Birds*
Now that we have our pleasantries out of the way, we can move along:
This one was a little hard to come up with, you're good at what you do! The most I can say is that you could try and spill more into different genres of music, it's all I can say that could make you even better.
My overall score for you would be a very proud 94/100; couldn't be deserved by anyone else!
Keep up the great work, DJ!

Ah, Nexus... I have such mixed feelings about Nexus. DoubleJoe now reminds me of myself 2 years ago: heavily depending on Nexus to provide flashy instruments and accordingly inject style into the remix. Using Nexus for every instrument (including the drums) leaves little room for personal stylizing and manipulation that makes one remix stand out from another. Nowadays, I try to stay away from Nexus as much as possible, though, only using it for some sampled instruments like violins, electric basses and... acoustic guitars (*drools*). I use synthesizer VSTs for synths using self-made patches (or at least heavily tweaked presets ) Joe's mixing and mastering is decent, no faults to report after hearing most of his songs from the past couple months :]. I can tell his older ones have clipping though. He's improving at a good rate, roughly the same speed that I did at his level. I hear lots of improvisation, that's nice! ;] Suggestion: experiment with other plug-ins to come up with more unconventional and interesting instruments. There's more to music-making than just picking whatever canned sounds from a ROMpler seem best. Final score: 90/100 Fav remix: Battle vs. Legendary Birds

I hadn't listened to your music before, and I enjoyed listening to your original compositions as well as your remixes. First of all, I like how you seem to put effort into what you do. You don't put in a midi, apply effects and such, and upload it to YouTube. You may happen to sometimes loop remixes and compositions, but that is well executed - you actually make an ending. What I'd like to see you improve, would be.. hmmmm.. maybe try other genres.. new types of instruments.. Another thing is that sometimes the melody doesn't fit the rest so good, I noticed this a bit in the Sky Tower remix. Don't be afraid of changing around notes etc.. I don't know if you do this already, but if you don't: Try to compose by ear and add new chords, make the bass a little different etc. Maybe variate a bit what instrument play which melody, if you get what I mean. Still, most importantly, continue to explore the alternate world of music called electronica or synth! I usually would dislike that many electronic pieces, but in your case it's always interesting because of the variation. Keep it up! The world of synth is just as diverce as the world of "real" instruments, and you should continue with variating synths. I've read somewhere, and I also agree, that synths are free for prejudications - if you hear bongo drums, then you know you're in the jungle. If you hear rock guitars, you'll think of solid stuff - like the ground or mountains or.. metal hehe. Synths, on the other hand, won't make me think of a spesific thing, and relies on the melody to tell the story instead. It's probably challenging, and you seem to master it well. Still room for improvement though (It is ALWAYS room for improvement) I noticed PRS' post now. I don't know how FL Studio even works and even less about Nexus, but if it's as locked down as PRS says, then I would have done what he says. Use your wings, fly like the bird, experiment and make new feelings and experiences. And add a solid bit of creativity - you have to make your piece stand out. I can sit and listen to your music, thinking "Oooh, what will come next? What will happen in the next measure?" That is probably what I like the most about your compositions. They are exciting to listen to. 1200/1337 Ok I'll be serious 91/100 (Please note I'm using a perhaps more critic scale than others. You are awesome, don't misunderstand ;D )

You're definitely skilled and improving at stellar rate. Your remixes are very original and creatively arranged. Original compositions are also very creative. I like your current project with the legendaries, it's a very cool idea and by the end you'll probably have improved 20 times more. Sound quality is great. My only suggestions would be branching out into different styles. Jazz, classical, and rock are just a few possibilities. Pretty much all of your songs are techno-y. Although nothing's wrong with that kind of music, I think you're limiting yourself by keeping with that one style and one type of instrumentation. For example, your "Origin of Burned Tower" (which by the way, was brilliant.) was brilliant (wait what?) but I think, considering the story element, that the style and instrumentation didn't fit what the story represented. Overall, I give you a 9/10.

Well, it's been a week and there are quite a few reviews! Thanks to everyone for reviewing me, it means so much! I promise I will take all of your guy's advice and continue to do well in remixing and composing. Thank you all for your kind words, it's messages like these that keep me motivated to become an even greater composer/remixer. You all rock, thanks again!
