Hey, I just joined this forum after asking LugiaDialga if she knew any good music forums (I've been on some gaming forums a while, but never really joined a musician one). I've been composing/writing music for a while just never got to finishing much to a point I find satisfactory, at least until sort of recently.
As far a music goes:
I can play:
-Clarinet (first instrument I learned, don't really play it anymore but I still own it, occasionally break it out to try and play it again).
-Saxophone (basically broke the Clarinet for me as 1, I like the sound better and 2, it ruined my embouchure for playing clarinet to accommodate the larger mouthpiece of the tener. I don't play it too often and it's a school instrument, but I still practice this occasionally).
-Bass Guitar: my "main" instrument. I play this more frequently then my other ones and I've been taking lessons from a professional for a while now.
-Guitar you learn one string instrument, you can essentially learn all of them. The transition from Bass to Guitar wasn't intensely difficult, and I play guitar pretty often too. I'm not intensely good at guitar (mainly I'm not good at guitar "shredding" and that sort of thing) but I can play it at least well enough to play rhythm parts and some complicated things.
-Sitar well sort of, I own a sitar and play it - but it's very difficult to get down in comparison to other western instruments thus I'm not to confident with my abilities on it.
-Banjo bought this pretty recently, but it's all that much different then playing a guitar so I'm o.k. on it.
I also own a few other assorted ethnic instruments.
When it comes to musical style, I'll basically just play/write whatever I like, often subject to short occasional "phases" with a certain style that I'm experimenting with. My favorite styles of music have to be:
-Alt Metal (think Tool here)
-Post Rock/Metal
-Math Rock
-Punk Rock (like Rise Against)
-Funk
-Electronica
If you'd like to hear a few examples of my work so far, I've got some songs uploaded on youtube (I've got like 3 others on my profile atm that I haven't posted here):
(my remix of LugiaDialga's Storming the Tower)
If your wondering why I haven't recorded much rock, well it's mainly due to hardware problems that prevent me from getting a clear precise sound when recording an instrument - I've got the recording program capable of clear recording, but my computer itself is too slow to get a clean input and thus my guitar/basses tone normally goes to mush with fuzz (was thinking of trying some sort of sludge rock thing as that sort of tone is what defines that genre).
When it comes to Pokemon, I've essentially grown up playing the games and still like the main series of the game (branch offs normally are a bit meh in my opinion). I'll occasionally try and remix these too, though I don't have much atm except for this WIP I'm working on of the Desert theme:
It still needs some work so I haven't made it public yet.
I have other song "concepts" but atm, their mostly MIDI that I haven't began to put through virtual instruments yet.
So now that this huge block of text is over, Hi community.
