I just want to throw back out the symbolic theme idea. Maybe we could stick to the core games, but we all choose songs from the main series that reflect fear, or melancholy, or something. It would give us a nice mix of a huge and diverse range or songs. With a theme of fear, for example, we could have songs like "Champion Battle," "Lavender Town," and "Chargestone Cave" all on the same album.

Too bad Halloween has passed already, that would have been a perfect time for a "fear" album. However, it would be the perfect time for a "Winter / Christmas in (insert region name here)" collection... jk :B I would be down for a "fear" album, but, again, I'm fine with whatever.

I dunno. Winter sounds good to me. lol I also don't think we should stick to songs that fit that category, as music CAN be remixed to the point that Lavender Town can sound like something wintery. lol But I'm down for whatever... :i

Maybe we should go ahead and make a poll or something; I figure we have a few ideas to pick something from, now. xP

Just in general, I think people would just choose a source that fits the theme more often, and then remix that. But if someone wanted to choose a different song and then remix it to fit, that works just as well. I also want to point out that if we do a "winter" theme, for example, The remixes don't necessarily have to sounds wintery. There could be a dubstep version of Snowpoint City and a Christmas-y version of Victory Road in the same album. If that isn't clear enough, basically it can go one of three ways: Source -> RemixWintery -> Non-wintery Non-wintery -> Wintery Wintery -> Wintery

If a variation that wide is allowed, then I have nothing against the theme idea A winter-theme would be cool

Liking all the ideas so far guys, it looks like we're gonna get some participation this time around p.s. if you sign up, you're f--king obligated to finish your mix, no matter how short/bad/late it is Question: Do you guys think you've discussed enough to make a firm decision to vote (should I set up some polls with all the choices available?)

It sounds like the Winter theme is a pretty popular suggestion. I'd potentially be up for that. And for a (planned) first successful, winter-made album, I'd say Winter is a good theme. But we'd have to remember that in the future, we'd have to choose another theme. But that's a discussion for next year.

I quickly skimmed through much of this thread, and it seems like there's some good ideas flowing through here. Maybe I'll wait and see what the theme/game is and hop in; I've been at a lack for Pokemon musical inspiration lately and I kind of need that inspiration back because I'm composing/remixing for a fan-game. :X
As far as the topic/theme is concerned, I like either the idea of doing a more obscure game (TCG, Pinball, and Puzzle Challenge particularly come to mind) or doing a wintery themed album. As far as my preference for either, I can't be too particularly helpful there. A Poll might help for the more indecisive crowd.

Yeah, I'll go ahead and make a poll, but it seems to me like the Winter album is going to win in a landslide.

Yeah, I'll go ahead and make a poll, but it seems to me like the Winter album is going to win in a landslide. Even if it does win, that doesn't mean we can't make a smaller project on the side for those minor games if they really want a chance; we don't need an entire forum to do a 10-15 song album, and it gives the original OST some nice, much needed exposure. But I'm on board for whatever goes through.
