I'm pleased to announce that there will be a NEW voting system for all SotW/M competitions, being put into effect January 17, 2012.
Here's how it's going to work.
We're not using polls anymore. Instead, we are using normal threads. We are moving to a system of multiple points per vote as opposed to single votes.
You are prioritizing your votes into a first, second, third, fourth, etc. place vote, obviously being determined by which song you liked the most, the second most, the third most, etc. (the number of votes you are to give out depends on the number of participants, which I will get to later in this post). Your first place vote will be worth more points than your second place vote, your second place vote will be worth more points than your third place vote, and so on. The moderators believe that this will yield more accurate results overall in each competition.
The number of votes you are to give depends on the amount of contestants in each competition:
2-3 contestants: 1 vote
4-5 contestants: 2 votes
6-9 contestants: 3 votes
10-15 contestants: 4 votes
16+ contestants**: 5 votes
**Judging by the current pace at which new members are joining the forum, it is not out of line to assume that SotY 2012 will have this many contestants.
How many votes you are giving also determines the number of points your first, second, third, etc. place vote is worth:
- 1 vote:
---> First place vote = 1 point
- 2 votes:
---> First place vote = 2 points, Second place vote = 1 point
- 3 votes:
---> First place vote = 3 points, Second place vote = 2 points, Third place vote = 1 point
...And so on.
You are to reply to the original post in the thread with your first-, second-, and third-place vote.
You are to use the following format in your post so that potential confusion is avoided:
"1. First place vote
2. Second place vote
3. Third place vote"
Although this seems like a lot, once the system gets into full swing I'm sure it will become second nature for everybody.
Again, this system will come into effect January 17, 2012, when the polls for SotW 58 and SotW 59 are created.
