I came online just to comment on this! I live in Australia! Is the opal in the game based on the opal mines in outback SA/NSW? Or just a random name. I could certainly help for this if need be with ideas for australian music or animals to base the pokemon on. But this sounds absolutely awesome! I've always thought of what a pokemon game would be like if based on australia! Can't wait to see what you guys do! PS: To pokemonzone members, I'll come on the forum now and again, but not youtube. Youtube was the main thing to stay away from for me

Note to all members: This game is made using RPGMaker XP and the Pokemon Starter Kit. It isn't a hack of any rom, everything is originally made for the game.@wolf the Wolf: I like them both, for me the second one empasizes a sense of mystery, yet the first one is a little more majestic and serene. Also, MIDI, MP3 or OGG formats are fine. @pokemonstein: Cool, cannot wait to hear what you come up with. @jillsandwich: Trainer encounters, there are quite a few of them, including new trainer types that I have thought of. There is now, like a Parasol Lady, and Umbrella Man. You coukld just make the basic encounter themes that are staples to the game, like: Beauty, Medium, Psychic, Black Belts, Cool Trainers, Swimmers and so on. I do not have a PokeCenter/Pokemart tune yet. Go right ahead and work on those. tobinus: Sure, go right ahead and give it a crack. @hnturs: Sure, you can help. I would much appreciate it.

So... I assume all songs should be done with a common soundfont, though. So what one? My vote if for HGSS.

I think the songs should all be made relatively the same sounding, so a common sound font would be great. I haven't been able to contact my friend so I do not know what if going on, looks like yet again I am organising things on my own.
HGSS, maybe. I like songs from all game generation so I'm not very helpful. Just compose in a sound font you are comfortable with, and I will see what I like.

I've never composed anything for the HG/SS soundfont, so it's time for me to learn about it xD I guess I can use a MIDI, and put it in a program?
..anyway, are you able to explain, or perhaps show, Lilypily town? I don't want to create something that doesn't fit in ;D (Even though I won't start working on it for a while, I still can think about how it should be)
EDIT: Maybe you can show the inspiration for the town as well?

Hmmm so it's not like it's based on an in game MIDI soundset or something like that, what will be heard in the game is exactly what we send you. Hmmmm if that's the case then it may be best to have 1 person do the final mixing on all the songs (other people can compose the MIDI and send it to them) that way the mixing maintains a sense of consistency.

Nah, I think using a soundfont would be better. Less work, and not to mention it sounds more authentic for a Pokémon game.

That's pretty much what wherewolftherewolf said, he meant that we all send a MIDI to one person, who applies a soundfont on them all, in order to make them sound like in the game

tobinus: No, he was saying we would all compose, and then someone else uses their sound library so all the songs sound similar. But what I'm saying is if we all just use the same soundfont from and actual game, it requires less work, plus it will sound more legitimate for a Pokémon game. @inintendo: I vote for HG/SS only because I have it, and all of the instrument files are named, as opposed to having a number and me just having to guess what it's supposed to be. If the B/W instruments sf2s are named with the according instruments, I'm down for either

There's the problem, not everyone is capable of using a sound font. Also note that having the same person mix all of the pieces will also lead to other consistencies, like consistencies in volume and such. I never said that person couldn't use a sound font, that's always an option too.

True, though we could just have someone mix the soundfonts only for those who can't use them. By the way, i finished my encounter theme: www.mediafire.com/?d0y7c7zbo3y11zr
