Sure, go right ahead, Tobinus can compose one too if he oh so wishes. A note to you all, tomorrow the power in my house is being cut off so I will be a little late on the replies. Also, this weeked is my 19th birthday, so I will be out during some of the night and most of the day.
Happy composing.
Also, I'll try and get some town concept art done.

Merry Composing and Happy Christmas!Hey, I think I just need to know if it'll be a lively town, many houses and such, or if it's an old village and so on. Just so I don't make a lively beach theme for a peaceful, not-so-tropical town. Perhaps I can take a look at typical Australian music and such as well I hope to get some time to composing this weekend.. hopefully

I'm so bad at predicting how long it'll take me to do things. Well writing OC's are a lot easier than remixes cause I don't have to listen to the original repeatedly to get the pitches. Anyway here is the Wild Pokemon Theme. www.box.net/shared/euimxe8cg6I tried to mimic the R/S/E style with this one. I haven't made a MIDI yet so tell me if this is ok or if I should change anything.

hmmmmm wow it's near impossible to find any information on Aboriginal music theory, plenty of info on the didgeridoo, but nothing on how the music is actually written. From listening to it, it seems mainly rhythmatic, but I can't seem to figure out how to do the more tonal parts (like flutes and that sort of thing which I've occasionally heard in styles imitating aboriginal music (technically type instruments don't exist in Aboriginal music)). Hmmm since it's a sort of style blend, anyone know any type chord progressions that just generally fit that type sound? Yeah, I pretty much failed trying to write like that. Also there isn't really any good choices in MIDI to get a didgeridoo sound (closest I found was sawtooth), on top of that the sound it makes is particularly hard to replicate (it's not really changing tonation when they make it "wobble" ). www.box.net/shared/e0yvs8399u

Try "aboriginal dances" on youtube. There are some examples with singing.

Happy early birthday, whiterose. I might get started on some new Pokémon, too. One question, though: Will it be all new Pokémon, like Black and White, or will it be more like older games: some new ones and some old ones?

@ Pokemonstein: I'm trying for at least 150 new pokemon, based on australian pokemon, alot of birds I think (because I compiled a list twice as long as the other with birds iconic or native to Australia: Emu, Cockatoo, Rosella, Magpie, Kookaburra, Galah and so on.) The first area of the game is half beach, half grassland so yeah. @ Tobinus: Lilypily Town is nestled inbetween a grassland and a forest, it also has a large house where your rival, wealthy wife of former region champion, lives. Its a laid back, Cherrygrove/Oldale town really. No gym or big locations, just a simple town. You get the running shoes from there too, though how I do not know. flameheadshero: Some parts seemed a little too... exotic to be a wild pokemon battle, while others fit the bill quite well. From 8-24 seconds, it seems like an arabian musical theme, then it gets into a more brass band sound, which is more fitting, and the part where it slows down is a nice break. Aside from the slight openinging arabianish bit, nicely done. @wherewolf: That sounds quite bad for a didgeridoo sound. It's reminiscent of the Chrono Trigger games with their past music from the jungle area. You do not have to have it in there, it was just an idea. Seems like aboriginal music isn't a big enough influence. Also, you do not have to make it in MIDI (chances are, I'll just convert it to an MP3 anyway with an online conversion.)

I see what you mean, Whiterose. Like I said, I was trying to match the R/S/E style of battle music. And some of those especially Wild pokemon, team magma leader and trainer battle have a really strong arabian/spanish feel to them. Heck, a lot of pokemon themes have that vibe. I'll see what I can do to make it not arabian sounding.

Alrighty then. BTW, I have my four gym leaders written up, Im just waiting on my friend to give me heres, I assigned some ho hers a TM so she'll have to deal with it. Some gyms train a totally different type than the TM they give you the ability to use. Most notable are the Ghost/Dark which gives you Dive, and the Psychic which give you Waterfall. Also, the fourth gym's type can confuse you because the Gym Leader is totally not flaunting his type. For instance, Crasher Wake resembles waves that crash, and wake is the waves seen after a boat passes through water. Bugsy, well his NAME is a dead give away, and his gym is super "look-at-me-i-trian-bugz " so not disguise there.

Weren't you getting someone to do all the finishing to keep the themes consistent sounding? And there really isn't any instrument in MIDI that even resembles a didgeridoo sound, but really that was just a test to see if it would be possible to get an aboriginal sound.

Well, I think I was a bit harsh. But it really did not sound anything like I was expecting. Sorry if I hurt you.
I do not know if someone was going to finish off all the songs, because no one has stepped forward yet.

I really don't think it's necessary. If volume becomes a problem, Audacity can fix it, but if we use DS soundfonts, that's really the only potential problem.

Nah it's fine, I think it sounds bad too - I was just trying to see if I could get that sound then going to ask if anyone else knows anything about aboriginal music theory, which it doesn't seem like anyone does.

Regarding the Gym Music. Do you know how R/S/E Remixed the Pokemon Center and the Pokemart? I was thinking of a completely new gym theme, still with the same brassy/important feel but different.
Or, as an alternative, each gym could have a specific variation of the tune based on the type of gym. For example a ghost type gym would have an eerie, slow remix, and an electric gym a sort of quirky and zippy remix.
