Interesting... VERY interesting. This design is promising. A few revisions here and there could be made, but this is great for an initial concept. However, there are many elements suggesting it to be a rock, ground or steel type (e.g. the rock-like claws). Making this a bit more...spectral, would be a start, but again great start. Yeah, i see what you mean. Hmm...I think most of the rocky look can be fixed easily and when I decided on a color scheme that'll help it out a lot. Besides fixing the claws and making it more spectral, is there any thing else specific that i should add/drop? Edit: And i just noticed your edit. Well would this pokemon be a continuation of Mewtwo? Loosely based on Mewtwo? Or something entirely different?

Interesting... I've got an idea. it's supposed to be a failed attempt at cloning, right? I could try my hand at this...

@stein: No, this project would have been a HUGE success, but Silver realized it was too powerful to use lightly, but once he uses it, it turns on him.
@flameheads: Yes this would be loosely based on Mewtwo, but like I said, it would be mostly for physical fighting (meaning a somewhat different appearance). To reflect the dark type it has as well, it needs a very mysterious, ominous appearance. Imagine that the personality of this clone is sort of an antihero, in that it has a strong sense of justice, but only does the right thing of it suits its goals.
Also, I finally decided on a name: Mewex (M Clone EXperimental is the designation given to it by Team Nova-Rocket, which is how it gained its name. The experimental part is because some of Silver's own DNA was added to the mix, but only on a level that would serve to increase intelligence and physical capabilities)

Oh, so it's not a deformed monster? Hm...
Though for the record, I don't know if you're trying to keep scientific accuracies (I don't think you are) but the whole thing about Silver's DNA is... not accurate. At all, that would only ever happen like that by extreme and nearly impossible chance.

Well I was just wondering: it seems like the whole "new version of Mewtwo" idea has been thought of by a lot of people already. It's sort of like the Mewthree or the Mewthree X. It doesn't stand out that much as a new idea. Are you sure you want to go with something that, in a way has been done before?
That's just a suggestion though. It's up to you.

It's different because of a few key things. One, it isn't entirely a clone of Mew, as it not only has traits from Mew but other pokemon as well. It was a continuation of the project, but was a split-off using MULTIPLE templates, where as Mewtwo used just one. I also thought of how Silver's DNA being added would make sense.
Think of it like this, because they share DNA, Silver would be able to establish a sort of "link" with the clone, allowing him to keep control of it unlike what happened with his father and Mewtwo. However, that part of it fails and results in the clone going berserk, which is why he betrayed Silver.
Also, thought of a new name for it: Genetex (Not to be confused with the Gen 5 pokemon Genosect). Genetex is a play on the word "Genetics", with the last three letters replaced by "ex" for "experimental". It's appearance vaguely resembles Mewtwo, but like I said this one is specialized for physical combat, and so is faster but has slightly lower endurance than its predecessor. I'm thinking of making the soundfile for its cry myself, but it would be nice to have some visual concepts first.

I could. I had something in mind for a mutation, but with this newer description, that doesn't exactly fit. But I guess if there's no one who wants to do it, I will. :/

What kind of mutation did you have in mind? You could describe it and I'll see if it sounds right. groudonkyogre: Welcome to Project TNR. What exactly are your areas of expertise (e.g. music composition, sprite design, programming etc.)

It's incredibly hard to describe. It's basically just like a completely failed splicing experiment with horrible mutations and deformities all over its body. But of course, you said it wasn't failed, it just went crazy.

Precisely. The project was successful beyond their greatest expectations, but the problem is that they made it too powerful for its own good. The deformities should be avoided.

Well I haven't been able to think any good designs yet so I think I'll try to sketch out some concepts for Red.
Also about the whole deformity thing, how about an oversized arm or something along those lines? At first it would seem bad but then Silver could discover that the deformity allowed Genetex to have physical strength uncommon in a psychic type.

No, because that would make its movement awkward, drastically slowing it down. What gives it its physical strength is the efficiency of its muscular system but has a fairly lean build, which allows it to lift (with physical strength alone) 4,000 times its own mass. This pokemon needs to be FAST as well as strong, so anything out of proportion along those lines will not work. It needs to be seen as the epitome of genetic engineering a LIVING WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION, as it was a perfect success...until it turned on them later.

(Bump)
Important Announcement:
Originally I intended to make Genetex's theme myself, but that isn't working out. In the interest of getting things moving along (and just to have some fun), I've started a little competition. Several people on the site (maybe including some of you reading this now) have recieved a pm outlining the guidelines. Further entries may be posted here on the thread.
The one I think is the best will be the battle theme of the mascot legendary, Genetex, but don't worry if you lose, as I might just a few of them for other battles in the game. Consider this a friendly competition, and may the best composer win!
