The other day my friend and I were talking about why the main characters of Pokemon never seem to have fathers or you never see them. So I started thinking of who their fathers could be. This is just for fun and I'm really just joking. What I want to hear is your crazy father theories, so let's see who these fathers really are. These are my theories:
Red- Silph Co. President. Red is actually an android built by Silph Co. to defeat Team Rocket. His intelligence and ability are far beyond any normal trainer which is why he's such a b.a.m.f. This also explains why he can't talk, swim, emote, climb ledges (too heavy) or run.
Gold- Ditto because...well the Day Care Man wasn't sure how Gold got there but he was just born.
Lucas- Looker. I don't really have reason for this besides the fact that Looker's awesome.
Hilbert- Clay. Sometimes when you get your Pokes heal, your mom will mention how your father is a pokemon trainer and sounds slightly sad about it. Hilbert's mom never mentioned that Hilbert's dad and herself were married. She only said they met on their Pokemon journey. Obviously, Clay didn't know he had a son, which is why he doesn't know you. But why Clay? It's clear that Hilbert's mom wanted to name her son something that would remind her of Clay, the big ol' southern guy. And there you have it, Hilbert. Why else would he have such a hillbilly name?
Ash-Mr. Mime. We all know it to be true. (Mr. Mime may or may not be a ditto.)
Ok, what are your theories?

how do we know that you weren't made in sliph co??? Professor Oak is Red's dad. Gold was a failed clone of a Pokemon that Giovanni created to defeat Red because Red is too powerful. Lucas's dad is Looker lol. Hilbert is N's son. N wanted somebody to take over the family business. (That's where Grey comes in) bahaha. Ash's dad is of course Mr. Mime

1. Who's Hilbert? 2. I'll tell you why there are no fathers around: if pokemon were real, would you rather:
A) Give up your journey so that you can partake in the joys of parenting
OR
B) GOTTA CATCH THEM ALL!
Yea, I thought so.

Wait wait wait wait wait....
They gave him a legitimate name this time? I mourn the day pokemon protagonists are no longer named after colors.

Well yeah, it's been like that since Crystal, with Kris. R/S/E is Brendan and May, D/P/P is Lucas and Dawn, HG/SS is Ethan and Lyra, and B/W is Hilbert and Hilda. As for the japanese versions, i assume they're still named after colors and rocks.

Mr. Mime isn't at home in the video game, and you're Red, not Ash (as many "fanboys" would point out.) I think all of the dads are trainers, and they are doing what they should be doing, as that is what society dictates. I truly do think gender has a lot to do with it: The guys go out and train and become Pokemon masters, and the women either train and don't make a family, or settle down and make a family. It seems as if guys are preferred though, and people are more reluctant to send girls out; ie the case of Bianca (thought not the case with Dawn......hmm....) But take note how most all the powerful girl trainers have no real love interest or man behind them...they are just trainers and not too much else. Now, some trainers do meet up and become a couple and settle down and marry, but when they do it is the mother's job to nurture the child and the father's job to make a living through Pokemon battling (I mean, you do make money from battles; I would think that would be very sufficient.) With all this in mind, here are my theories for each dad: R/B/Y: Is he even mentioned at all? I think he's either dead or divorced, because I don't recollect the mom making any remark about him (please please PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong, then my theory will change.) G/S/C: The father is an ominous, powerful trainer that is also not really mentioned. He is filling out his gender roles. R/S/E: Do I really need to explain this one? D/P/Pt: Your father is friends with Palmer, the father of your rival Barry. This kinda provides proof that the men fill out the role of breadwinning through Pokemon battles and the women stay home to raise a family. Palmer leads the Battle Tower; a HUGE institution where he probably earns a lot of money, and so stays there and battles. He can't really leave often since trainers are coming in to battle him all the time. Now, your father is still a nameless face, but Palmer remarks on like training with him and stuff, so I'm assuming that he's off becoming friggin amazing like a boss. B/W: Possibly divorced. Your mother mentions how she and him used to train and battle together, and you never really get much more insight. But she doesn't really talk as if he's dead, so I think he's either divorced or earning some money.

Don't shoot me! But I actually don't mind the names. In fact I tend to refer to the characters by their english names. Sure Hilbert and Hilda aren't names you see everyday but they are names that people have unlike Diamond or Ruby or Black. Besides, you barely have to deal with the names as they are barely said and you choose your own name.
On a side note, in FR/LG, it was confirmed that Giovanni's son had red hair. Obviously, Flint is the heir of Team Rocket. (Yes I am aware that Silver is Giovanni's son. Pft, Silver...what a weird name for the son of a mob boss.)

Yep. In the after game of Fire Red and Leaf Green, it's after you beat the scientist in the final Team Rocket warehouse. If you talk to him after the battle he mentions Giovanni's son has red hair.
Plus, the Celebi event and HeartGold and SoulSilver straight out says it.
