Well I'll let Neon give the news, but imo they're pretty ridiculous sounding (meh - it's not like they have to make sense)

Tepig = Tepid + Pig
But really it also looks like:
Tepid = Teh Pig = The Pig
Also lol - Unova region, isn't the enemy team called Team Nova or something?

Meh, people just like to come up with random meanings on the spot - I seriously doubt anyone uses the word "Sebastian" as they say it means.
And really, the japanese names just seemed attractive outside japan because they seem all asian and mysterious - "kids these days love asian gibberish." But yeah, I have to say Tepig and Snivy are pretty uninspired names, and Oshawatt has to be the most senseless name they've used so far in any game.

Ok so, Tepid + pig = Tepig.
Snake + Ivy = Snivy
Oshawott? What's that? Is it ocean and otter?

Wow, I'm pretty surprised I never noticed that But meh, it's not like the originals were really that much more creative:
Squirt + Turtle = Squirtle Charcoal + Salamander = Charmander Bulb + Dinosaur = Bulbasaur Chikorita = ? Totadile = Crocodile + ? - Gen 2 has to have the wierdest names so far Cyndaquil = cinder + quill Torch + Chick = Torchick Mud + ? = something I herd u liek Tree + Gecko = Trecko
and so on so forth

I don't care. Apparently Game Freak just ruined the US Pokemon Black and White versions. Already.
Seriously, Tepig, Snivy, and what, Oshawott?

You're going to let the translations, that are carried out vary much in the same style they've done on older games, ruin the whole game for you?

Am I the only one that likes the names, or at the least does not care? Hahaha, I always hate new pokemon but they grow on me eventually, heck I remember when I absolutely hated the DP starters but now I love them. Same thing will happen to me again with B&W, and their names are okay. The Japanese translations [according to Google Translator, which is already funny] would have been too silly sounding and hard to pronounce in my opinion. But hey, I'm not here to argue... just to point out my opinion. ^__^
At least the region name is awesome AND creative! Unova, Un = United States, ov= of, a= America.

I like the names actually. I am just happy that they finally revealed some Black and White things for America and stuff. I think Oshawott's name is very unique (although at first I was like OshaWHAT?!)
