In fact they are based on English words, they come from the scientific names of clouds, not that everyone has photographic memory of the names of clouds but they are truly English words.

Ok i can agree with that, but the Pokemon names Do,not sound English at all, i mean Zorua, Zoroark , Reshiram, zekrom ,snivy ,tepig, they are ok for English names. but the rest of the Pokemon i do'not think so

And of course not all old names made the most sense either, like Chicorita. I can determine the bases for most of the names just by looking at them. (just a few examples - really there seems to be few that are nonsense text, and even them seem to have base) Oshawott - this one seems more based on sound Ocean + water - Oshawat Oshawat + otter = Oshawott Gigalith: Giga + monolith Excadrill: Excavate + Drill Ferrothorn: Feral + Thorn Tynamo: Tide/Tad-pool + Dynamo

I would love the name Serperior if it didn't remind me so much of RHYPERIOR. They need more variety in the names, and less puns intended.
@n
I call HAXX on your Haxorus!
