Omg I love that song can we make it together lol jk, but now I think we should make all of the songs together for experience and because it's fun to work together.

Well that was the original plan anyways, have a bunch of people working together on the different tracks

I guess we have no time limit nor a starting time so we can start making this soon! Anyone interested to make the Poké Center theme with me? Also, I would like to do the Bicycle theme if Larx wants and we both have time for it.

I support this idea 100%. Though if we do a forum-wide Collab, then I would have to get it last, unless we wanted to go the synth route, in which case the final touches would be done by Pokeon. Us garageBand users can only import MIDIs, no exports possible

Well not exactly, seeing as your allowed to take it however you'd like, I'd figure at least 1 person in the small groups should be capable of doing the finishing on the pieces - being in the group writing the music they'd probably have instruments most appropriate for the style it was written in anyway.

I just want to say, I say no to any soundtrack of the first three main series Generations.
Skotein's got Kanto Symphony I've got Pokémon Gold, Silver, & Crystal: Remixed, Reorchestrated, and Redone GRonnoc's got R/S/E Symphonic Score
Gen IV, however, I would like to do, but Gen V OST would be good as well. D/P/Pt I would prefer though, because no one has really done fantastic remixes of any non-battle song as of yet. (None that I've seen, anyway)
But what would be really amazing is if we did the OST for Pokémon Colosseum. My vote is for Colosseum.

Well note that it's not a re-instrumentation or re-orchestration of the pieces, basically not "redoing" the pieces. It's taking the theme and creating your own new piece of music on the theme, honestly I don't see much point in taking the piece and putting it in new instruments without fundamentally changing it in some way (unless the new piece is like an orchestral version of saw an 8-bit piece), if you want the original song as is, then just listen to the original.
Also seeing as Black and White are only in Japan atm, very few people have even played the game to hear the soundtrack in the first place.

I realize that, but I'm just saying we should do something nobody's done before. THere's Red and Blue remixes left and right, Gold and Silver remixes are everywhere, R/S/E remixes aren't exactly the most common, but there are still a lot of them. D/P/Pt, B/W, and Colosseum, on the other hand... Remixing those OSTs would be completely new. Completely fresh.

Meh, Diamond and Pearl's soundtrack wasn't all that impressive imo, it seemed to lack something earlier games had (and I'm not just going on the whole nostalgia omg blue and red trip either) and I haven't heard most of the soundtrack from B/W.
I just figured Red and Blue would be the most obvious choice of a remix project as it's where it all began, for the group as a whole it seems like a "starting point."
Idk, maybe we could do a spread, but if we let everyone lose on every game it'll seem to lose it's feeling of being a directed project and more just a bunch of random collaborations.

Both have excellent potential, as well as the Colosseum soundtrack. D/P didn't sound too good because the sounds they used were just... meh. They sound much better as arranged scores.

Well D/P also seemed to lose the spirit of the series imo, it didn't really have the same charisma as earlier games - it's kinda hard to describe, I just don't exactly like the songs much except for a few choice themes (like the snow area). Of course it'd the whole thing is a group project, thus up to popular choice (though we've had a lot of planned out for the original so far) but naturally disliking the soundtrack I'd oppose doing D/P.
I don't know the soundtrack to Colosseum too well so I can't say too much on that, been forever since I've played it.

Honestly, if we were to do Gen IV/V, it wouldn't be as interesting. The songs are already pretty much perfected and there isn't much you can do with it. While, when you are working with 8-bit/GB tunes, there is only 3 tracks: Square 1, 2 and the Sawtooth/Triangle (Whatever is used for bass) and sometimes percussion. So, there is much more you can do with those songs. Colosseum, the soundtrack is good, but it's full. You know, there isn't much you can do with songs from that game. :/

Isn't that the point of arrangements? Oh, you know what would be great, is redoing the TCG OST. Or Pinball. I haven't played Pinball in a long time though, so I don't' know how many songs were actually in it. And about D/P and B/W, They're actually not complete. There's a LOT more to be done. Plus, bringing them up into more real sounds is always a huge advantage. And werewolf, to be quite frank, almost nothing was planned. It was pretty much a just short list of maybe a half of the game's soundtrack followed by Larx's saying of "I call Bicycle :3"

It's almost near perfect. The only thing I'd actually go and orchestrate is the route themes. But, then again, that's just me. But, he DID plan it out. That WAS the point of this thread. EDIT: Also, if you are not really up to doing this project, you could always start another project of your own. I'm pretty sure a bunch of people would love to join in. Like you said, you could orchestrate Gen VI/V soundtrack or remix that TCG soundtrack. I don't know, but I, personally, love the idea of this project.

@ Stein Da-dada-daaaaaa fanmadepokemon.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=collaboration&action=display&thread=180Of course it can always be changed, but I'm still supporting the original soundtrack (branch offs are a big meh imo) Perhaps we should call a vote on this? Not exactly true either, ever wonder what the route would sound like played through metal guitar? Ever wonder what the pokemon center (which hasn't really changed much anyways) would sound like it it was trance? Ever wonder what the cities would sound like in retro 8-bit? Actually, taking a newer game and making it retro could be an interesting project too, but that's besides the point here anyways.
