I'm not saying it can't be a battle theme without work, but I think it has more potential as an encounter theme.

I think you should cut out it out with the slowness from :43 to 1:08--I would much rather there be something much more energetic here. Like this song! www.megaupload.com/?d=AHPH9YBQI love this particular theme as it has just the right buildup that I'm looking for here. As for the town theme, I'm thinking of using that for a beach town.

So yes, I find the song I posted to be much more in-line with how I've wanted a Thrasher theme to sound. I don't know about you guys but the theme just has a level of awesome to it that I really would like to see matched. =]

Hmmmm so you want me to just try re-writing the piece completely? I could try writing something a bit heavier if that's something you'd want, I know the first one I uploaded was a bit lighter.

Yes, I think it would be nice to make it sound darker, but most importantly it must have more energy--the song in its current state just dies to me when it fillibusters with the beginning rhythm and then....dun dun. dun dun. dun dun. ...Know what I mean?

www.box.net/shared/m0xnu8v88vK, tried rewriting the theme from scratch and ditched the Electronica type feel for something more Thrash Metal oriented, this a bit closer to what you wanted? (of course this is just a wip)

I don't know how much help I can be, but I'll see what I can do to help.
I happen to be excellent at writing storylines for stuff like this, so if you want ideas on dialogue sequences, I'm certainly up to helping you there.
As far as music goes, I'll try my best. Question though, is the rival in this game arrogant (aka Blue), evil (aka Silver) or friendly (aka Brendan/May, Wally and Barry)?

Happy Holidays to all. =) I like this new version you're working on there, therewolf. It's approaching what I want, it just needs to be followed by something that's....louder! The rival's personality is not arrogant like Blue and not evil like Silver. I feel like I'm trying to do something different here from previous rivals, and I think the best word I could use to describe the rival is "flamboyant." With that said, the rival has a particular interest in rock music, which is somewhat important to the story, so his battle theme should reflect that. This RCR remix from VGMusic sounds kinda like what I was thinking! www.megaupload.com/?d=37QHIWB1

Oh, flamboyent...so I guess that means he's a trainer after my own heart (Hard Rock has ALWAYS been my favorite music genre). Anyways, thanks for the link. The final will use that midi as inspiration, but it will be made completely from scratch. I'll let you know when I finish it.
Also, I noticed something about the midi. It sounds a lot like something I was trying with an OC I was working on, but quit because I couldn't make it sound right. Funny coincidence, right?
Update 12/30/2010: Starting to take shape. Should be done in a couple of weeks (I hope).
